In a Nutshell – The Garnet Café is where friendly service meets intentional, creative and delicious cuisine meets chill and relaxed atmosphere.

The Food – What we appreciate the most about The Garnet Café is that they are a farm-to-table restaurant.  Their pastured Berkshire pork, grass-fed lamb and beef, free range duck and chicken eggs, and freshly-made raw goat milk products (and seasonal produce) come from the local and organic McLane Farms, which is conveniently operated by The Garnet’s owners.  We recently enjoyed the bacon and the pork sausage in our meals and they were both outstanding.  FYI, McLane Farms products are also available for sale to the public. 🙂

What We Like –  Sometimes it’s the little extras and options that make a restaurant really stand out and keep customers coming back.  They offer a great variety of food and beverage options, making it easy for everyone to get what they want/need, even for those with particular diets (like me).  One can easily order a meal that accommodates their diet whether it be vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, paleo, organic, etc.  Where else can you order a meal that includes duck sausage, goat’s milk, and rosemary toast?  Or wild-caught sockeye salmon, almond milk and gluten-free toast?  Maybe a pork-fried steak with biscuits and gravy is more your style?  It’s all awesome!  For something new every time, leave it to the Garnet chefs to delight you with their delicious and creative daily specials.  I’m still thinking about that bacon…. mmm…

They serve organic coffee and tea and always have fun and inventive alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.  Speaking of the little extras, we must note that we love the lemon curd which is provided with the toast. It in itself is worth going for! Oh, and sitting by the fireplace is sure nice on cold days, as is sitting outside on the patio on warm days!

All in all, The Garnet shines like the gem it was named after.  We definitely suggest going and maybe we’ll see you there!  😀
